Vox Hunt: This Gets Me Cooking
Book: Show us one of your favorite cookbooks.
Hey! A cooking show and tell! :) I think my favorite cookbook is "Hot, Sour, Salty, Sweet," it's not only a cookbook, but a literary journey, and journal of a family's trek through Asia....They tell all about the villages, off the beaten path sort of places...true authentic dishes....absolutely a great read....as a book, *and* a cookbook.
but "Pleasures of the Vietnamese Table is a very close second...Mai Pham tells stories of her family, visits to the "real" Vietnam.....describes culture, heritage and memories. A fabulous book.

I'm glad you mentioned this, I'm actually half Vietnamese but know literally nothing about the culture, so I'm definitely going to check it out.
Lynnie, doesn't it? Those are exactly the words that describe what makes Asian cuisine fabulous....I totally recommend both of them.
Auds, I think you will really appreciate the stories Ms.Pham tells...about her family, the local folks and the traditions surrounding Vietnamese food. And the recipes? Awesome. :)
