That sounds good, sounds like it would have a world of possibilities for different versions too.

Although the thin sliced garlic makes me think of Goodfellas :)
Thanks, Brian! :) Why Goodfellas? I've seen the movie a time or 2, but can't for the life of me remember the garlic reference. lol
There's a scene when they're in prison but they have a kitchen with very few tools. One of the guys is slicing garlic very thinly with a razor blade.

I made this last night. I didn't have any cayenne peppers so I used some arbols. They didn't impart much flavor sadly. It was still a good dish, I put some broiled pork chop in with it and added a little dried red pepper to put some of the missing spice back in.

Oh, ok! I am a movie junkie, and for some reason that just did not spring to mind....could be that I'm a chick flick junkie though....even though I love gangstah stuff too. :)

Oooh, broiled pork chop sounds like a fab addition! Did you like it?

Yeah, it was really good. Gena has the leftovers for lunch today, we'll see what she thinks.
I did a little variation on this last night. I first dry toasted a couple of dried guajillos and then browned whole garlic cloves in the olive oil and then blended the olive oil, garlic and peppers together to make the sauce. It was very good that way.

If I ever locate some good dried cayennes I'll do it the right way.
Oooooh! Sounds delicious! Do you want me to send you some of the cayennes that I use? They are the tiny ones....in the US I used to get mine at the Asian grocer, they look like the red Thai chilies, but dried. If you want me to send you some, let me know! :)
